Events are picking up as we head into the spring season. Here’s a peek into what the weekend looks like:
Blue Water Paddle Race on Bodega Bay (Sonoma, CA)
Give back to Surfrider Foundation by racing a quick 200-yard course on relay teams or in individual races at Bodega Bay in Northern California. Entry fees are only $5 per person or team.
Lanakila Carpet Beach Classic (Redondo Beach, CA)
Courses offered for first-time paddlers up to pros at the Lanakila Carpet Beach Classic in Redondo Beach’s King Harbor. Race SUP, prone paddleboard, OC1/OC2, kayak or surf ski on a mellow 1-mile harbor lap, or compete on the longer 5- and 10-mile race. All proceeds will be donated to the 404 Simple Mobile Outrigger Team competing in the upcoming Olamau 90-mile race in Hawaii.
Surfing Australia SUP Series:
Victorian SUP Titles (Pt. Danger, Torquay)
Western Australian State Longboard and SUP Titles (Yallingup)
Five separate State Titles events, with a National Final to be held in August. The winners will help form the team to compete at the next year’s ISA World Titles. Each event will have two separate races for both men and women: a 4-8km Surf Race and a 20km Long Distance race. The Surf Race will be a 12’6 board class event, while boards can be up to 14′ in the Long Distance. Alongside the SUP races, there will also be SUP surfing contests for open men, open women and over 40s.
